26-07-1996 / Indianapolis, IN / Deer Creek Music Center / USA • Support act: Lyle Lovett. Large screen monitors were hung every few feet on the outside of the pavilion. Before I Was Brought To My Senses: "It's very nice to be back in Indiana. People have been very friendly here, I haven't paid for a meal yet. Two restaurants, no bill. That's mighty kind, thank you. They also gave me the Mike Tyson suite in the hotel. Interesting. Here is a quiet song". Sting had Lyle Lovette join him in vocals and Lyle's bandmember Buc Green for steel guitar to do I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying. He introduced Lyle as: "a man who I admire very much as a musician, as a songwriter, as a gentleman, as a Texan". "It's for Lyle", joked Sting when someone in the audience gave him some yellow roses. He held them up toward the side of the stage and sang the words: "The yellow rose of Texas". Before Fragile he sang lightly: "Such a lovely audience, we'd like to take you home with us". |
